Hi Cian–
Nice blog and while I don’t necessarily agree with you on some issues, you do a good job without being to preachy and I salute you for that.
Minor comment vis a vis my product “chain-L #5″ chain oil. I assume that’s what you meant by the reference to Chain-L #9 (hasn’t come out yet).
You say you use it at work, so I’m kind of curious which shop that is. My other comment is that it isn’t as expensive as you think. On average it’s about twice as expensive as some such as Pedros dry, partly due to higher costs in things like a recycleable PET #1 bottle, vs what others use.
The added cost per ounce is offset by the fact that you’ll use lots less of the Chain-L so the cost per mile comes out less than the cheaper spread. Lastly, if it prolongs the life of a drivetrain the long term savings both in dollars and to the environmental more than offsets its direct cost.
